Houston, TX  77042

Speakers: Rene'Mott, Enervest Operating LLC and Orlando Teran, MicroSeismic, Inc.

Mechanical rock layers above and below reservoirs can have a difference on reservoir performance. In this study, we reevaluate a microseismic dataset from a pad of lower Barnett wells in northern Ft. Worth basin. The re-look objectives were to understand the mechanical conditions that favored out-of-zone growth using microseismic fracture plane solutions.

Speaker Biographies:
RENE’ MOTT — Sr. Geophysical Advisor, Enervest Operating, LLC
Rene’ Mott received her B.S. (1982) in Geophysics, and a Masters (1996) in Sedimentology from University of Texas at Dallas.

In 2011, she joined EnerVest, Ltd, as Senior Geophysical Advisor where she is working on onshore exploiting oil and gas fields with an integrated team of Geologist, Petrophysicist and Engineers.
Her areas of interest include structural and stratigraphic interpretations with attention to fully exploiting the waveform for attributes and rock properties to discover or increase production.

She has published publications on topics from visualization, interpretation workflow, risk reduction, seismic attributes, azimuthal, 5D interpolation and reservoir characterization.

She is an active member of SEG, AAPG and local geoscience chapters, HGS and GSH, in Houston, Texas.

ORLANDO TERAN, PhD— Sr. Structural Geologist, MicroSeismic, Inc.
Orlando is currently responsible for the completion geomechanics analyses using microseismic data at MicroSeismic, Inc. He started at MicroSeismic in the fall of 2014 where he was first trained in seismic processing. Before joining MicroSeismic, Orlando pursued a graduate degree in geology in Baja California, where he lived on the beach and studied active faults and a modern earthquake rupture.

Orlando has a Ph.D. in Geology from CICESE in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, and a BA in Geology from Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado. He has co-authored articles published in Science and Nature based on his contributions to advancing the understanding of earthquake ruptures.
