A Live Webinar featuring, Enders A Robinson & Sven Treitel
Two of the geophysical industry's most recognized and decorated MIT PhD's in geophysics who have collaborated for decades on books, papers, and presentations host this live webinar.
4 half-day interactive webinar sessions, May 23rd to 26th, 2017 8:00 am to 12:00 pm Central Time (Houston, USA)
To learn or relearn the general topics of seismic processing, this is a course for those new to geophysical signal processing, or who have forgotten what they learned about it. We start with an explanatory discussion of the seismic method, covering seismic wave motion, seismic migration, full waveform inversion (FWI) and visualization. The successful performance of migration and FWI depends on our ability to preprocess the field data so that it is as free as possible from performance-degrading events, namely the various kinds of noise. We therefore introduce elementary signal processing tools such as convolution and correlation, along with the basic means to compute them. We follow up with a study of the design of digital filters, their inverses, and their stability issues. Finally we deal with optimal digital filters, and how they are used to solve various practical problems. Throughout the course we illustrate concepts with simple examples, and invite listeners to solve small illustrative "pencil and paper" problems after (or even during) the lectures.
SPECIAL FREE OFFER
THE NEXT 20 INDIVIDUAL FULL REGISTRANTS FOR THIS WEBINAR WILL RECEIVE A FREE COPY OF "Digital Imaging and Deconvolution: The ABCs of Seismic Exploration" by Enders Robinson and Sven Treitel.
THE BOOK, VALUED AT $50, IS AN EXCELLENT REFERENCE FOR BOTH DURING AND AFTER THE COURSE. DON'T MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND RE-LEARN THE BASICS OF OUR PROFESSION AND RECEIVE A FREE COPY OF THE BOOK UPON WHICH THIS COURSE IS BASED.
**The e-book "Digital Imaging and Deconvolution: The ABC's of Seismic Exploration and Processing"
by Robinson and Treitel is recommended for this webinar. To encourage and support the webinar, SEG has discounted the e-book to US$25, between now and 1 June. To purchase, please click on this link
(separate course notes will be provided).
Miss part of the sessions? Never fear. All sessions are recorded and available for later viewing by registered users.
