Xcalibur has been a pioneer in applying ultra-high resolution aeromagnetic surveys for geological mapping and mineral exploration. This presentation will show how line spacing; survey height and noise levels can dramatically impact the results. Various examples applied to minerals and diamonds exploration as well as geological mapping will be shown to illustrate how the selection of survey parameters can influence the final results of high-resolution aeromagnetic surveys. Because of this a new wave of mineral mapping projects is being undertaken with international funding in various countries in the African region.

Speaker Biography: Alessandro Colla, Xcalibur Group
Alessandro Colla has 30 years industry experience as Exploration Geophysicist in Oil&Gas, Minerals and Geothermal exploration. He graduated in Geology at the University of Genoa (Italy) in 1988 and obtained a Ph.D. in Geophysics in 1993 from the same university. In the early 1990’s he was involved in the initial stages of the exploration program of the Ross Sea in the Antarctic as part of a multi national research program with USGS and BGR of Germany (1991-93). He covered several international management and business development positions with Aerodat Canada (1994-98), Scintrex (1999-2000), PGW (2000-06), Xcalibur (2006-2009) and Fugro (2009-2013) in Canada, South America and Europe. In 2019 he joined the Xcalibur Group, as VP Oil&Gas, based in The Netherlands.
