• Attendees can expect technical content that explores the application of machine learning in geophysics.

Speaker: Ben Lasscock, Energy Solutions Group

We provide an overview of new tools applying AI and machine learning methods for automating interpretation of geophysical data, including examples from seismic, well-logs and core. Software examples will be published for classifying textures in seismic data, with application to open data sets.

Speaker Biography: Ben Lasscock, Energy Solutions Group
Ben holds a Ph.D. and a B.Sc. in theoretical physics as well as a B.Sc. in physics and theoretical physics from the University of Adelaide.Before coming to geoscience, Ben worked as a portfolio manager at a large hedge fund in Australia. He has publications in the areas of high energy physics, Bayesian time series analysis and geophysics. Currently, Ben is working on developing ideas for physics-based A.I.
